A selfie of Garrett in Rocky Mountain National Park

Hey, friend!
I'm Garrett (he/they).

I am a teacher and a student who is committed to creating a world where everyone has what they need to thrive and be well. I’m also a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, a dog dad, a partner, an avid gardener, a steward for honeybees (and all pollinators!), and someone who loves to belt out showtunes like I’m the star of a Tony award-winning musical.

I offer marketing and business support for wellness professionals and changemakers who want to get vocal and visible in their work in an authentic and sustainable way. I also share intentionally accessible yoga practices like yoga āsana, restorative yoga, Yoga Nidra, meditation, and mindfulness for self-exploration, inner transformation, and collective care.

I have the great honor of collaborating with Michelle Cassandra Johnson to support her work and serve as a Skill in Action facilitator. I also support I Am Yoga – a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing yoga to the people. In the past, I’ve served as the Ambassador Community Coordinator for Accessible Yoga and Communications Director for Sangha Studio – a nonprofit, donation-based yoga studio.

In everything that I do, I am committed to sharing practices that help people care for themselves and their communities. We’re stronger together, and I believe it’s our responsibility to work collectively to disrupt and dismantle the systems of power and oppression that prevent all of us from thriving and being well.

Equity & Values Statement

  • I am a white, gay, neurodivergent person who is exploring my relationship with the gender binary. I own a home and a car, received a college degree, and I am a middle class, english-speaking American citizen. While these are only some of my identities, I acknowledge that most of them afford me a lot of power and privilege that it typically not given to others due to systems of oppression within our dominant culture.

I am dedicated to doing the ongoing work to disrupt and dismantle these systems within myself and within our culture, and I commit to studying with teachers whose lived experiences differ from my own. You can view a list of my teachers, certifications, and trainings below.

  • I believe it is necessary to acknowledge the harm that has been caused by the appropriation of yoga practices. The history and lineage of yoga is one that is rooted in Indian and South Asian cultures. As a white person practicing, teaching, and learning in the United States, I recognize that I am inherently disconnected from the origin of this practice. My intention is to hold space for the practice of yoga so that it can help others, as it has helped me, while simultaneously honoring its roots, and creating as little harm as possible. I recognize that I will have blind spots and make mistakes along the way. I seek to listen to and learn from South Asian teachers as much as possible, and I am open to feedback and suggestions at any time.

  • I do my best to make my work financially accessible by offering a tiered pricing model for community classes and workshops in addition to payment plans for larger-scale offerings. At the same time, I acknowledge that we’re currently living in a capitalist system that requires me to have an income in order to provide for myself and my family. Please reach out to me directly if finances present an obstacle so that we can discuss potential options that help alleviate that burden and equitably compensate me for my time, energy, and labor.

  • I recognize that I will have blind spots and make mistakes along the way. I seek to listen to and learn from folks with different identities as much as possible, and I am open to feedback at any time.

Please contact me with any feedback.
